The Siegenthaler Center is a residence for terminally ill Hospice patients and their families whose medical conditions or caregiving needs do not allow them to remain in their homes.

Circumstances to consider for admission to the Siegenthaler Center:

  • When the patient's caregiver is unable to provide care or continue to provide care at home
  • When the patient who is hospitalized cannot return home and seeks a residential setting
  • When the patient lives alone and is no longer able to care for themselves
What services will the Siegenthaler Center provide?

Overall, the Siegenthaler Center will provide a supportive environment, expert staff, and will allow patients to enjoy the peace of mind and security of knowing that their needs will be met.   Specific professional services include:

  • Coordination of care by a team of professionals, including:
    • Patient's attending physician with oversight of all medical care
    • LPN to provide care around-the-clock, supervised by primary and on-call Hospice RN's
    • Members of the Interdisciplinary Team assigned to the patient will continue to coordinate care within the Center
  • The Siegenthaler Center will provide procedures and treatment for symptom control and pain management, as is currently provided in the patient's home.

What are the requirements for Admission to the Siegenthaler Center?

  • Patient is eligible for and admitted to Hospice and has special circumstances as listed above.

How do patients pay for their Room and Board?

  • Private pay
  • Sliding fee scale
  • Discussion may be held with the patient's insurance company
  • Medicaid

Who refers a patient to the Siegenthaler Center?
Referrals may be made by:

  • The patient
  • The patient's family member or legal representative
  • Patient's physician
  • Hospital discharge planner or social worker
